Ran in Simpson's Alumni meet. I wasn't really sure I wanted to run when so few teams were competing and I was pretty sure I could be at the front. Kevin told me I should just do it since we were there. I decided to hop in with the intention of a tempo. This started out well as I let all the college guys go out hard and took it pretty easy for the first mile. I wasn't really feeling very good trying to take it easy though so I decided to pick up the pace a little and at least get to tempo pace. Then my competitive side got the best of me and I rolled up everyone in the race within the next mile. I thought I did this over the rest of the race and was getting to the leader right as we would be finishing. It turns out we had another lap and the leader said he had a pretty painful blister so it became pretty tough to run slow enough to not take the lead on the last lap. I didn't really want to win their meet though and it ended up working well since I didn't need to waste my legs before HyVee. The course was very hilly and a true cross country course with some rough footing. They had more area around it to run too, and it would be better if they could make it fewer than 3 loops.

Rebel.

Nice run Drew, I would have probably felt weird too winning some team's alumni race. You seem to be an honorary alum for a lot of teams.

That is true. I am going to run in 3 alumni meets this year. I hadn't really thought about it.
