Notes

Tempo/Interval workout and Noelridge Park. I borrowed Kyle's GPS watch so I could keep track of my pace for once. The plan was 2 miles at tempo followed by 2 mile repeats at race pace. The secondary goal was just to get used to my spikes so I wouldn't have blister issues at All American like usual. The tempo felt really good. I hit 5:30 for both miles and could have easily done it for longer (a full hour would be questionable though). I only took about 3 minutes recovery before starting the mile piece and the jump in pace immediately felt like too much. I got comfortable at about 5:15-5:20 pace but was really hoping that I could run closer to 5:05 pace. I didn't feel like pushing much harder though and was already starting to feel my feet rubbing and blisters coming soon. I finished the mile in 5:13 and decided against another piece due to blisters. I'm not sure what to take from this workout. The tempo gave me confidence but the mile piece took it away. I should be in better shape than last year for All American but I can still tell I'm a long ways away from two years ago. I guess I will just have to see how it goes next Saturday.
