Wilton Eager Beaver. I haven't run this race in a few years but when Rick Pahl didn't show up I figured I still had a decent chance of winning even with poor sleep and training. We got out with 4 of us in the front pretty comfortably. I decided to get in a little better rhythm after the small hill to start and Tigue Snider and I started to pull away from the other 2. This surprised me a bit since the runner I thought would give me the most trouble (runs at Platteville) fell off quickly. Tigue stayed with me through a 5:25 first mile and then I started to pull away gradually after the turn. The first mile felt good but around halfway I started to feel pretty terrible. Weak legs and a tight back. I didn't have a huge gap on Tigue and as fatigue continued to come on I wondered if he would gut it out and catch me. But as I checked over my shoulder with a half mile to go I figured that was unlikely as he hadn't really gained much back, if any. I didn't really pick it up or kick at all to finish and came in at 16:40 for a 3 mile race. This is not very impressive but I'm going to try to not think to hard about it based off of training and a new baby. This would be a little over a minute slower than almost every other time I have run this race.
