3k at UNI. This was a pretty big race with 22 people. I was the inside of the second waterfall and got out pretty well merging into the middle of the pack. I still ended up going out in a 32-33 and knew I wanted to back off. I started to hit 35-36 for a while then and let quite a few people go around me. I wasn't sure how I would feel at this distance so I was focused on getting through the mile feeling good between 4:40-4:50 and then try to pick it up at the end if I could. I went through the 800 in 2:18 and probably started to slip back a little too much shortly after that. Then an ISU running club guy went by and decided I should lock on to him. I made it through the mile in 4:44 and was feeling pretty good but not ready to pick it up. Each lap after that I kept saying I should go but continued to not feel like it. I finally went around the ISU runner with 800 to go then started to really roll with 3 to go. I passed a lot of people from this point on and was wondering how close I was getting to the leaders. I finished hard and was excited to see my time. I think Nutmeg said my last 3 laps were around 34-34-30. I got some bad blisters from the last couple of laps but otherwise my legs felt much better that they did in the mile 2 weeks ago. I'm very surprised to be within 6 seconds of my PR in that event. I might have to try another now.

That is something I have been asking myself. It's possible. I'm going to try a 45+minute run later this week with some faster pieces. If that goes well then I would try running the 3k just for fun.
