Cornell meet mile race. This was the worst mile I have raced in quite a few years. I wish I could say that it felt great and I was just running hard enough to win. But that wasn't the case. I went to the lead because no one else was going to run very fast and right away it felt pretty hard. I heard splits around 34 but I just couldn't get going any faster. I got passed right before the halfway point and had to focus really hard just to stay with the leaders since I knew we weren't going very fast. I stayed on them until the end though and kicked around them at the bell. But I just didn't really have the finish either. The Cornell runner went back by me on the homestretch and I really didn't have a very fast lap overall.
Pretty disappointing race but leading the first race of the year is never a very good idea mentally. Hopefully I can bounce back at my next race.
