Workout with Chase at Noelridge. The lines were painted for the cross country course so we had a nice route to run. We did 3 miles of tempo at 5:37-5:32-5:33. My cardio felt really good during this part but my calves were getting extremely tight. We then took pretty much full recovery and were planning on doing 2x1 mile at closer to race pace. My calves were already so tight that I was thinking about only doing 1 and after a tough piece that ended up being faster than we had planned (5:05 instead of 5:15), we both decided to stop at 1. After the workout I was thinking the reason my calves were so tight might have been due to wearing my track spikes. My cross country spikes got ripped in a race last year so I didn't wear them. I might need to find a different option than my Mamba 2s for cross country though. Overall my cardio felt great and I did this same workout a year ago (actually less and slower) and still ended up have some great races so I'm trying to use this as motivation. Chase had the opposite of me. His legs were feeling really good but his cardio was a bit more labored than mine.
