Notes

Luther Alumni Mile. Not much faster than 2 weeks ago (but at least it was faster). The race got out a bit slow through the first 2 laps in 70ish, but it was also one of the messier mile races I have been in. I had to slow up once for someone that pushed his was off the rail in front of me and had 2 more worse instances of multiple people slowing up due to near falls. Not sure what caused it but it definitely seemed worse than I have dealt with in a race in a long time.

Almost all of those issues were in the first 3 laps and I had to keep convincing myself to get back to racing after they happened. I responded to moves pretty well and while I didn't stay right on the leaders they were never far ahead. Went through the half in about 2:15-2:16 and still felt like I fought well the next 3 laps, and then on the last lap I just didn't have much to kick. Lane Schwarz went by me with about 150 to go (after I passed him the lap before), and I knew I needed to try to kick with him but I just can't seem to get anything rolling for a kick. He ended up beating me by almost 2.5 seconds. 4:33 still wouldn't have been great but considering the race was slow and won in 4:28, that would have been just fine.

Not sure what to think overall. I'm disappointed to not be running faster but it was a slow race at times mixed with some messy slow downs. I was also in Mexico a week ago. I won't get too caught up in this one. Training is feeling good and I'm just going to keep riding that and continue to find races. I'll likely find some more races or try a couple time trials outdoors if the weather stays nice.
