Notes

Plan was 5x1k with 400m jog rest in sub 2:55 and then 4x400m in sub 65 with 400m jog rest. (400 jog took a little over 2:30 usually)

There were some strong winds for half of each lap and I had to constantly swerve around walkers who decided to walk in lane 1. The 1ks felt strong and weren't forced. I wasn't making myself run a particular pace, I was just running hard and didn't really care about what the watch said. Back in the day, I'd check my watch every 100m and make myself hit the pace, but today, I just ran that pace. If I didn't run the 400s, I could have run eight of these without much of a problem.

The 400s were a little bit tough but never put me too far into oxygen debt. The only issue was that my butt was really locking up. I think it's a good sign because I'm using the right muscles. Before, my hamstrings and quads would hurt a lot because they were picking up my butt's slack. Now I feel I'm using my muscles more in-sync and just need to get them a little more stronger.

I'm really pleased with this workout because I feel I have a long way to go, speed-wise, but I'm running pretty fast already. My gas tank feels very strong, I just have a little bit of trouble turning over faster...mentally and physically. It felt good to have some snap in my legs and it's good to get away from that marathoner's shuffle.
