Sure, it was dark and misty, running in the bare ambient light from the cloud cover. And sure something was falling from the clouds, not quite solid, not quite liquid, but quite cold. And yeah, sure the bridges were covered in crunchy, slippery ice. And sure all around me there were sounds of rushing water from the rain-bloated creeks and river. But I think my favorite part was tromping through the mid-shin deep puddle of 30-something freezing cold water for tens of paces. Twice. Awesome!
