Notes

Times were not always this difficult for flying monkeys, and they used to be a peaceful lot. Maybe even just a century ago, gathers of flying monkeys could be seen filling the twilit skies outside many towns and around the world. But the towns grew wider. And the land was farmed. And over time, the lush and dank deciduous forests that flying monkeys craved grew sparse and rare. Recently, monkey scientists have estimated that a healthy flying monkey gather requires at least several thousand acres or forested hills and valleys, preferably with a natural source of water. The monkeys require a forest full of the trees that support snoz beetles, including paw paws, persimmon and wild quince. The monkeys prefer light winters and balmy summers in which to laze the day away, crunching on snoz beetles and the occasional hunted wildlife. Today, very few suitable woods remain.
