Notes

Took the W. Race recap here. we. go. So going into the race I knew it was going to either be me or this 35 year old guy who had won the past three years. Last year he won with at 6:17 mile pace. So pretty good for running by himself. Race day it was pretty cold. Mid-40's by the time we got there. I felt a lot better than 24 hours ago, but still had a feeling like I might get dizzy if I pushed too hard. Race time it warmed up a tad but overall was still chilly. Race starts. I camp on this guy hard. Like really hard. Stayed in his blindspot so he could hear me but couldn't see me. Didn't give him more than a meter gap for the first 5.5 miles. At that point theres a pretty steep uphill followed by a steeper downhill to the half way point. Hill was about .75 miles going up. At that point I finally pulled up next to him. Felt kinda bad cause im pretty sure he was just thinking I was a troll at first but then realized I could hang, BUT the entire time he had no idea who was camping on him. Anyway, so I pull even with him but don't make the move. I intentionally make him push the pace still. He was getting pretty irritated. Blocked me off from getting some water at the water station at halfway. Then we made the turn right back up the hill, except this time it was a lot steeper and shorter in distance. Made my move coming up over the top of the hill and rode out that long downhill. Then just tried to hold the lead until the end. Felt pretty good on the return portion. Last three miles felt like they took forever. Overall, happy with the result. Time wise felt alright I guess, not sure what a good half marathon time would be for me.
