Same workout I did before Holly Jolly. Goal was to improve substantially. Before Holly Jolly I averaged 2:58.1 (3:42.6 pace) for the 800's. Today I averaged 2:53.9 (3:37.4 pace). Not bad but not as much of an improvement as what I hoped for. On the other hand the workout before Holly Jolly was really strong and conditions were better. Today there was some wind from the east which really slowed down the odd reps. Fought really hard during these reps and used the first half of the tailwind reps to recover a bit. Never maxed out but I did come close. I knew I had to save something for the 400's as legs were just feeling heavy today and I could feel lactic building.

For the 400's I was able to improve also but not by as much. Averaged 83.6 versus 85.4 before Holly Jolly. Maxed out the last 2 reps. Was pretty wrecked after as I jogged home with L. Workout suggests I am close to 5K PB shape, maybe 25 seconds faster than I was in November.
