Not entirely happy with effort. Played it very safe, especially in 2nd km as it was downhill and yet I obviously held back. Was feeling quite relaxed turning onto Dundas but then felt some wind. Considered picking it up when turning onto Queen`s Park but then there was even more wind in my face. With the uphill and wind I knew the best I could do was maintain a solid pace and re-evaluate at 4K. Was doing manual laps as Garmin was messed up, only looked at my watch after each km. Hit the 4K mark at the wrong street so it was closer to 4:00. Would have liked to pick it up at 4K but started cramping again on my right side so it was just a matter of holding on until I could sprint to the end. Picked it up a bit when turning onto Davenport but really only pushed the last 200m or so. If it wasn`t for the cramps I felt I could have eked out another 5 seconds maybe. Disappointing considering the weather was perfect and competition good.

Really need a way to get these cramps under control and force myself to push at sub 3:50 pace as I am finding it way too easy to slack off to 3:55-4:00 pace. Part of the problem is my cadence as it was incredibly low averaging about 89 for the last 3km, only really picked up the cadence in the final 200m. I felt my breathing was also off as I was breathing out on odd steps. Only breathed on every step maybe the last 200m so in that sense was closer to a tempo than a race. Hopefully I can stay healthy as I have a lot of work to do, don`t necessarily need a breakthrough but would at least like to be consistently under 19:15.
