Really soupy out today but not much wind nor sun. Sweating quite a bit before the intervals. Had some DOMS from yesterday, nothing too bad but legs just felt heavy. Left hip improved a lot overnight but adductor/upper thigh area still crazy tight.
Plan was to do 10x400 with first 4 reps around 90 (5k pace), next 4 around 86 (3k pace) and then blast the last 2 at around 82 (mile pace). First 4 reps were pretty comfortable but once I started the 5th rep I could feel fatigue setting in and knew it would be hard to drop the pace in final 2 reps. Focused very hard on maintaining form and not letting breathing get out of control as I didn't want this effort to feel like a race. Had problems recovering and definitely played it safe at the beginning of the last couple of reps to avoid blowing up. Did finish the last 100m at around 3:20 pace. These 400 workouts just seem really tough as I have no idea how I was able to average 84-85 for 10 reps back in 2013. Definitely something to work on and try again in better conditions.
