Notes

Didn't have the greatest sleep after drinking last night and going to bed late. Plan was to do 6x1K starting out at 3:50 and working my way down hopefully on the last couple of reps. Weather was pretty good although there was some wind mostly from the north so there was a cross breeze during significant portions of the reps. If anything the even reps may have been a bit more favorable.

Did a good job of maintaining pace for the first 2 reps, breathing well under control and legs feeling fine. However I felt like I was working quite hard mentally to overcome a general lethargy. Body seemed ok but it was a struggle to push it to its potential. 3rd and 4th reps didn't get any worse so this was a positive sign. Was able to pick up the pace a bit in the 4th and follow through into the 5th. Breathing only became accelerated in the last 100m of the 5th rep and then the last 350m or so of the final rep. Final rep was the fastest, didn't really rig up, although I did feel some upper back discomfort in the last 100m or so.

Some calf and shin soreness after but otherwise didn't feel too bad as I really only pushed it hard in the last 2 reps. Average pace was 3:47.3 so fitness is coming along but still obviously a bit further to go to get back into similar shape as last year. Turnover was pretty high, lacking some power which could be a result of the heavy training week and longer run yesterday.
