Notes
I am mostly happy even though it is my slowest half marathon ever. I am torn because I know the circumstances around it, but it still makes it difficult to stomach a slow race like this. Dropping from the full to the half was the right move but it also meant that I was back further than where I would have been if I put a estimated finish time for the half and not the full. That meant the first couple miles I was trying to get through a lot of people and had a lot of trouble getting slowed down behind people during that time.
Running with an injury, and not running much at all this past month I am sure were the main reasons for the slower finish time, but still better than what I had set as my baseline of 2 hours for today. My thigh hurt a little at the beginning, didn't feel 100% throughout, and hurt a little in the last couple miles. I am hoping I recover quickly from this which will be a good sign for my thigh.
I enjoyed the race, although it was hard to find someone to talk to which I like to do in halfs and fulls. So many people were running with music or already had a conversation going on. It was also lonely at the finish line since I didn't have anybody waiting for me :(
I will write much more later on my blog.
