About me:
I've been running consistently since '78. I do a lot of mpw, but those are across only 3 or 4 days of running in a week. I have one knee that isn't too happy with running every day, so I have to give it a break every other day. I still hit about 35 on an easy week, and upwards of 50 on a hard one. Reasonably recent PR's: (I don't really remember any of my times in HS or college, but they wouldn't matter anyway. Most of my running happened before they invented shoes.) 5K- 16:40 10K- 35:04 half-marathon- 1:18:30 My other loves: My family, my dogs, old VW Beetles, ham radio. (OMG, now you all know I'm a geek! Maybe I should have just kept that to myself...)
Why do I run:
95*, -10*, I don't care. It all works if you're prepared for it. I love to run. I love to run easy. I love to run fast. I love to race. Anything from the small-town 5K's with 30 people to the regional-class 10K in Minster, OH with 1200 runners. I don't run every race around, but I do love the ones I do.
Why I started running:
In the spring of '78, before my freshman year in HS, I told the coach I was interested in running track the next year. He convinced me to run on the cross-country team to get in shape for it. I was hooked! I ended up liking cross-country much more than track, and I've been a distance runner ever since. Of course, my 3 brothers and my sister all ran, so that was added incentive. They got all of the running talent, though, because I was the slowpoke out of the bunch. But, I'm the only one still pounding out the miles after all these years.
