This was the best race... of my life!!!!!!

The course was drenched and slippery, the rain and wind were fiercely chilling, and it was the last race of my high school career. I gave it all. Towards the last half mile, while climbing a gradual incline, I nearly died. I began to slow down to a crawl. Then I felt an inner push. A push to run faster. Faster than I felt possible. As I came to the peak of the hill, I heard Saul yell, "Now is the time to kick." I kicked. My body was experiencing a new level of exertion. I was breathing heavy, yet carried on. Then I saw it. 20:30. I would break 21:00!

I am so proud of my achievement over the season. From a 7:42 pace at Hornet to a 6:47 here has been a massive improvement, more than I would have ever thought possible. The hard work, teamwork, and work ethic have really paid off.

While I initially joined cross country to work on my endurance before I enter the Air Force, running has really become a part of me. I have truly found a new passion in life.
