More of a tactical battle rather than a PR attempt. Running stride for stride with 2nd place for the entire start of race. A little confused near the turnaround point since there was very little signage or a volunteer directing traffic. We managed to figure it out and continue our mental battle back to the finish. I managed to get a half step on him and focused on his breathing and footsteps so I tried to continue blocking him out on the path if he tried to make a move. Never directly into him, but just enough to throw him off his game a little bit. Then there was a bridge around 3.6 miles where I decided to make my move. I was a little worried being the one hunted instead of me being the hunter like I am used to. But I soon built enough of a lead that I couldn't hear him and felt safe as I powered to the finish for a 17 second victory.
After that it was a couple minutes before anyone else showed up.
