Hope Through Education 5k - 19.48.44 on watch, 19:46 official chip time.
Warmed Up with 2 miles around 7:50 pace and a couple strides near the end. Had about 15 minutes to start time, went to car and changed into dry socks, shoes and shirt. Came back near start line and ran a couple more strides and some half-assed high kicks and butt kicks.
1st mile: Got off to a very fast start and took too long for me too ease off and slow it down to the right pace. Net elevation loss in the first mile, but included a 1/4 mile, 50ft hill in the middle.
2nd mile: Went mostly by feel and felt like I was able to maintain a manageable pace. Rolling hills.
3rd mile: I knew I needed a 6:39-ish pace to make my PR, so I referenced my watch when I started hurting to make sure I wasn't falling off pace. I knew the first part of the mile was a slight downhill so I went quick, knowing I'd probably running the final uphill stretch at a slower pace. Was able to hold my pace until around 2.7mi, where the hill before the last got to me. I had to dig deep and all I could think about was that all the consistent training I put in this year could bring me a PR if I can just suck up on this last stretch. Almost puked at the finish, had to sit - it was definitely my max at the end and I left nothing in the tank.
