Notes
This race was really about perspective, because I'll tell you right now, I came dead last and got lapped by the top two guys. That's one way of looking at it.
The other way to approach it: this was my first 3K and my first indoor track race. My goal was 10:20, and I finished ten seconds clear of that.
This race felt more mental than physical. Being behind the whole time, and then getting lapped twice, isn't anyone's idea of fun, but I stayed focused on my own performance and kept reminding myself that I'm my only competition (literally in this case, since I was basically running by myself). But I ground it out and finished.
Also, if you'd told me two years ago that I'd be racing a 3K at a 5:28 pace, I would have laughed at you.
It's a good base to build on. The next track meet isn't until February to my knowledge, plenty of time to improve. Looking forward to getting to know everyone on track.
