14 mile long run. Perfect weather out today, can't get much better than this. Good run overall. Was a little sore from yesterday going into this run, so it made it a lot harder to get though, but I really needed to finish out the week strong. Pace wasn't that impressive today, but not too bad overall. Again, not a very consistent week; I'm a little disappointed by the way these first couple weeks have played out. Some days have been just really bad timing with the weather, others I just put off the run until it was too late, and some days I felt more sore than I thought I would. So I am definitely behind where I thought I would be in terms of training, and these initial weeks should technically be the easiest. The most challenging thing I've dealt with these past few weeks is losing structure to my days. Honestly, this is a huge setback; having this structure is vital. Back when I was working at my internship, I knew I had to get up and run in the morning at the same time every day, otherwise there would be no way I'd be able to get a run in for the day, since I would be probably be exhausted after work. Good thing is that I will probably be starting a job at IIT very soon, so I will be on a consistent schedule for the rest of the summer. Plus, with classes ending, I can set more structure to my day, because I won't have to deal with deadlines or catching up on work. Here's what I plan to do for the next two weeks to catch up on milage: this upcoming week, I will be at 60 miles, maybe above, but at least at 60 (I don't want to push above 65 coming off of 48 miles this week). The week after that, I will be at 70. By this point, I should be all caught up, and hopefully injury free. I am injury free so far, so hoping I can keep that up.
