12 mile long run. Great day; lots of sun, low humidity. Was pretty windy, but not terrible. For the most part, I think the run went pretty well. The pace was fluctuating a little more than I was hoping. You can see around mile 5-6 that I fell off that 6:30-6:40 pace, then got back picked up the pace again, then fell off again, etc. Again, the goal of my long runs are steady progression so that I am finishing the last few miles at a very strong pace. Physically, I felt pretty beat after the run. My hips/groin area is very sore, and I think I will need a few more weeks to get stronger in that area before that pain will begin to subside. This week I ended much shorter in mileage than I was hoping. My decision to take Thursday off of running was the main reason for this; I planned to take Monday off, but not Thursday. Next week, I expect to run all 7 days, and I will need to keep doing this until phase 2. It will be a lot easier to focus more on running when school ends, and the bulk of my school work will be done by this coming Thursday.
