8 mile run with 6X(2 min on/off) fartlek workout. Good run, although I was very sore today, especially in the quads. I think this soreness slowed me down a little, since I was probably averaging somewhere in the range of 5:20-5:30 on the fartleks. I am aiming to push this down to 5:00 flat, and hopefully below that. 6 reps is probably the max I am going to do this summer. I may try to increase the time to 3 or 4 min as I progress, and/or decrease the rest time. But ultimately I am looking to stay right around that 5:00 pace for most of the workout, since 5-5:15 pace is what I am looking to average for the 1 mile repeats. No pain in the achilles today, although I noticed it was rather tight after the run today, more than usual. I am still icing after/heating before my runs.
