Notes

10 mile run with 6X(2 min on / 2 min off) fartlek workout. Finally I am performing at where I need to be for these workouts. I have been trying to push the pace under 5:15, and could not seem to hold it until today. In addition, I was much more strict about the rest time between sets and kept the transition between sprint/jog continuous, whereas previous workouts I would typically stop for a few seconds to catch my breath. I think I am in a good position now to begin interval training (1 mile/ 2k repeats). I am a few weeks behind mileage and workouts, but I have made a pretty good recovery during these past few weeks, and I think am on track to continue the rest of summer training successfully.

is your achilles still feeling good?

Tom Doyle

Ya achilles pain is completely gone. I stopped heating/icing routine for a week or two following the achilles recovery, but I'm having some new pain developing between my calf and shin, and I'm back to that routine now. The pain is not nearly as bad as the achilles, but I'm sure it could get worse if I don't take care of it now. Otherwise I'm doing alright.

I'm hoping to work my mileage slowly up to that 85 mark, but as I've said, I'm a few weeks behind right now, so I don't want to push it too quickly. What I'm planning to do now is keep the milage above the 70 mark for the rest of summer instead of dropping back down to 30, 50, 65, etc. I'll take it week by week though, see how I feel.
