11 mile run with 6X(2 min on / 1:30 off) fartlek workout. This was a tough one, mainly because I was downtown all day today working outside in the sun before the run. I was exhausted, but it helped that I was able to focus on the fartlek portion of the run to get me through a majority of the mileage. I wasn't perfect on the rest time for the fartlek, because there were 2 or 3 times where I stopped my watch for about 10 seconds to catch a breath after the 2:00 on, then proceeded to the 1:30 off. In general I'm trying to keep everything consistent, and I'm getting much better at that. Pace was right were I wanted to be for most of the workout, and every rep I got a little faster. One thing I noticed immediately following the fartlek workout was how easy it was to keep my pace under 7:00 for the remainder of the run, and I think this was mainly becuase my muscles were very loose. Something I really need to work on doing better is stretching, and just becoming more flexible. Many of my runs this past month have been extremely painful just to hold a 7:00 pace, and maybe it's because my muscles are just too tight.
