11 mile run with 8 hill sprints. Got out pretty late today, but was able to squeeze in a hill workout at Orland Grasslands before it was pitch black. Legs were pretty sore today. I got the opportunity to get a light lifting workout in this morning, but after not touching a single weight for over 3 months, I was very sore. The assigned strength workouts helped a bit with maintaining strength, but I'll be honest, nothing really compares to building strength via weight lifting. I made this point a few weeks ago when I was really struggling to get over 60 miles, I think loosing the opportunity to weight lift was a bigger detriment to my running momentum than anything else, at least for someone like myself who has been weight lifting ever since freshman year of high school. So I plan on continuing lifting for the rest of summer, no more than twice per week, mainly just to help me stay injury free as continue to build higher mileage.
