Notes
It was 75 degrees. Little hotter than I wanted. I really doubt it affected my performance. I thought Thetford was coming, but they didn't show. So I figured it would be a solo effort for me. I was right. After warming up with Punger who came up to watch the race, I threw on my Zoom Victories and did three strides. I've never been in a more simple race. A few kids set the pace the first quarter, and Willie went with me for a while. But by the half mile I was comfortably in front, just maintaining the pace. First mile: 5:41. Felt pretty good. Crossed a little less than halfway in 8:30. I had some work to do to do break 17, my goal for this race. The second loop is about 20 seconds longer. I ran an 8:28 second half + for 16:58. Pleased with the result. Definitely picked it up on the second loop and felt smooth and pretty controlled. Looked at my watch near the line; it said 16:52. Sprinted in. Turned around, and Willie got outkicked for second in a huge PR of 17:35. Jonesy was 18:30. Not bad.
