Notes

Awesome race. Chris Helminski showed up so I knew I wasn't going to win. I went out a little harder than I planned but I was a lot stronger than I planned. Was hoping to tempo 17:30. Instead I tempoed this and got 2nd. Nowhere near race effort, had so much left at the end and could've certainly run 10k at least at this pace. It was an awesome day to have the whole team around watching and hanging out and to run with a bunch of friends. I was about 5:29, 5:33, 5:21, 4:50 pace. Strava says I went through 5k in 16:53 and closed in 5:14. It usually measures long. I'm pretty damn happy either way. The large dark roast beforehand definitely paid off. I'm going to crush everything this season. I'm probably almost in PR shape right now. And I am going to get so much faster. Hyped to hit a resevoir tempo next week and start actually training with long runs and stuff. The hard lifting and core and balance/hip/glute stuff is definitely paying off as well, as is my healthy eating. I'm at 131 pounds and I'm almost showing abs. That means my body fat is dropping. I can be so much faster if I'm actually as lean as most fast runners. So many positive things to take from this race. Big stuff coming.
