MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
I wanted to get a 5K race under my belt so I have a more reliable way of gauging my VO2. My goal was to run it under 24 mins, which I managed but just barely. The good news is that it was a controlled race (first 2M), so I could probably squeeze out another 30 seconds if I felt more pumped.
I felt kind of average before the race, but I had it planned for a week so I had to go through with it. I ran with a metronome set to 85, because I was afraid I won't be able to keep up with 90. It seems that I probably could do 90 for at least 2 miles. I felt good throughout the run, except the usual out of breath feeling near the end.
The weather was cold, but very beautiful. We had almost a frost overnight, but the crickets could still be heard.
