I was physically able to hold on to a decent pace the whole time. But mentally I was not in the race. Everything felt harder than it should have for a 5k. I blame this mainly on my poor mental preparation. Secondarily on the facts that I have been getting into shape, losing weight, eating poorly (relatively) and not sleeping quite enough each night. 7-7.5 hours vs. the 8-8.5 which I probably need. With any luck I'll change these things by next week so that I can tear up the course!
