The run was fun! I completed the whole loop and it was ~3miles as the map describes. What I was not expecting was such a steep and abrupt downhill as there was. Basically there is enough of a steep downhill on either route that you cannot afford to do much more than babystep unless you want to lose control of the descent.
Another thing I learnt was that there are a hell of a lot of ticks on the trail! in the 25minutes I was out there I found 2 crawling on my legs. I also found one after my first run, filled with blood and crawling up my bedroom wall. Gross. hopefully I do not get lyme's disease.
Not sure what to make of the trail now. Maybe I'll try the bridle trail option in the future - less foliage that I could come into contact with...
