Day 5: 70mi to DC (1300' elev.). This day was where we made up for distance lost on Day 2 which meant a night ride starting at 3:30 am! We rode on very muddy doubletrack for 30mi until a road route presented itself for the rest. We made it to DC with 40min to spare to at catch our train home. Highlights of our time in DC include: bathing in the Potomac so we looked presentable, having our bikes being denied entry to the train because a conveyor belt was broken (really), and a final sprint onto the platform to board! We made it!
