Love Running Route 5

Publish GPX

Terrain: Asphalt, Track

Notes: This is a lovely run! Don't be daunted because the map scale has changed from Route 2, 3 and 4! It's just more of an out and back route rather than a loop and it's fairly flat. From the Moss Bank Park car park nearest to Moss Bank Way turn left onto Moss Bank Way and run along the ring road towards Chorley Old Road. Follow the ring road across Chorley Old Road and along past the top of Doffcocker Lodge to Old Kiln Lane. At Old Kiln Lane turn right and head towards the Bob Smithy pub (don't get your hopes up, you won't be going there). After about 200m you will see Old Hall Lane (a small tarmaced country lane) on the left. Go down Old Hall Lane and take the right hand turn when you reach the small field that usually contains a couple of horses. Follow the track/road and you will pass a track/road on the left before start up a small slope on a straight bit of the track. Near the top of the slope look for a gate on the right of the track that leads to another track which is perpendicular to the track that you are on. Go through the small gate at the side of the farm type gate and follow the track. It will take you up to a corner of the High Rid reservoir. You can then choose to run either clockwise or anti-clockwise around the reservoir. After your lap the route back is just the reverse of the route to High Rid. This route is only suitable for daylight running.
