It was sneaky hot out there. Tried to take in plenty of fluids, which led to biffy stop. First one I stood outside of two biffys while waiting. After a bit, decided to forge on. Two miles later, I couldn't wait any longer and had to stop. All told, probably cost me a minute plus. Also, I really thought I did a better job of running the tangents -- I guess not. :(
After that, it was really hard to get my mojo back. By the time I got to East River Road, I was in a pretty dark place mentally. Fortunately, Anthony Fryer and Brian Davenport were there to keep me moving.
Happy to hang on and run sub 3:05. 10 minutes faster than Chicago last year. :)
Now to recover...
ETA -- Proud of how I moved up throughout the race in my age group.
5k -- 7th
10k -- 6th
15k -- 6th
20k - 35k -- 5th
40k - Finnish 3rd.
