Wow, this was interesting. The footing was probably 80-85% good, but there was some nasty icy spots.
Anthony had 14 miles, so I agreed to do a couple extra couple with him. Plan was 3 easy, 4 to 6 moderate and then finish off with easy. With the extra miles and iffy footing, we decided to wait until we crossed the river to try to get into the moderate. We committed to doing 4 and then take it from there. Right when we tried to pick it up, it was nice and icy. Finally found some clearer pavement and started working. Several times during each mile, we would hit ice and it would be a bit scary. Just tried to hold on as well as possible. When we got back to Franklin, I told Anthony that 4 moderate was going to be good for me today (4 miles @ 6:24 average). Turns out that this was a very wise decision as a light snow was falling and it made the paths very treacherous!!!
Last two miles easy were a bit sketchy trying to make sure we stayed upright.
Happy with the results of today. Please mother nature, can wee get to some clear pavement???
