Keota Track

Notes

Let the dog out about 5:00 and decided it wasn't going to be a good day to run in the morning. Predicted warmer and calm winds later in the day, but heading to a baseball game in Dubuque later on, so you gotta run when you can some days (most days).

As I did my warm-up mile I noticed the trees and buildings/homes blocked a lot of the wind and almost ran Washington street for intervals, but wanted to try out the track since I noticed Larry Lyle had groomed it for the track season. Got down there and it wasn't too bad. SE corner I was going to feel a breeze, but not bad.

Increased interval time to 2:20 from 2:00 and decided to do 8 or 9 instead of 6 of them. 2:00-2:20 recovery.

.38 in 2:20 (6:09)

.36 2:20 (6:29)

.37 2:20 (6:20)

.37 2:22 (6:22)

.37 2:20 (6:20)

.37 2:23 (6:28)

.36 2:20 (6:34)

.35 2:19 (6:36)

.34 2:21 (6:58) (running back from the track)

Interval total 3.27 miles most of it in the target area.

warm-up and cool down between 9;30-10:15 pace.

Nice work. Kept all but the first interval in a narrow window. Relax on the first interval. Better a little too slow than too fast on this one. By doing this, you will practice relaxing at the beginning of races when many, many people go out too fast. Always better to ease into first 1/2 mile then, when better warmed up and you have some of the people cleared out, settle into your race pace. Keep up the good work.
