Notes

I had a bib so I decided to at least run the Zoo Zoom course. Started in the very back just ahead of the strollers and eventually caught up to Christeen and Amy who were doing the cool down after their 5k. I wasn't watching my splits, just the overall pace, and by mile 4 it was 8:40. The goal was to run at my new-coach-assigned easy pace of 8:20, so I decide to go on my own after 4 miles to bring the time down. I figured I was running at GMP, but when I saw my mile 5 split at 6:53, I slowed down and switched my watch to the real time pace screen. I was still doing 7:30 ish. Finally I caught up to Old man Bob who lives in William Land (I've ran with him before when I was slower whenever the race was around WIlliam Land Park) and just hung with him. I figured we were going slow enough so I stopped paying attention to my clock. Right now the website says I ran 52:04 at 8:24 pace, but that wasn't chip time. Doesn't really matter because I did not run the tangents of the course except for mile 5. We were just running wide so it doesn't matter what the results say anyway.

Achilles was getting soar running at the slower pace. Actually felt better when I sped up. Calf was ok, still tight but no pain. Hammies aren't even an issue now. As long as I don't run much faster than GMP, I am ready to resume training!
