Mile time trial for my CFA (military academy fitness assessment). Aimed for sub 5:20 (their max pace). Ran it alone and without any true mile race training, so I wasn't really worried about being a hero and going sub-5.
Felt pretty good. First lap I was a little stiff/not 100% warmed up. Got into as I went though. By the last lap I knew I had about 2 seconds margin for error, but I didn't want to ease up and suddenly lose it. It would have sucked to have done all the CFA, just to get 5:21 and miss maxing the mile by a second.
