I guess all you can say is that now I know what my minimum pace for a 1/2 marathon is ... i have mixed feelings about the whole thing ... yeah this is a longest run I have done thus far -- but my expectations were so much higher. At mile 1.8 I got a shooting pain in the center of my lower back. I was on a flat road going straight. I have never had back problems or muscle spasms -- never. [It literally had me doubled over. I stretched for a couple of minutes and by mile 4 it was pretty much gone. I don't know if it f'd me up mentally or what ... but I was just a head case from there on out. I looped back to my house at mile 8 and had a GEL and some water [new head band as well -- cause that's the way I roll -- bald and beautiful.] Then just slogged out the balance of the run. [Obviously there were some periods of walking.]

You can see how the wheels came off after the water break. Look -- at the end of day, I figure that I can only get faster b/c today was full of effort but not much result. The only upside if that I am off to the beach to make some Blue Claws for the family -- and I make kick ass crabs!
