I wanted to see what an 8 minute mile felt like. Now I know... it felt slow. But not as slow as the 8:42 I ran last year. 42 seconds off the mile in one year is good progress, and I'm guessing I can get it down to 7:30 just by increasing my weekly mileage for a couple of months. Really good news is I could probably run it faster next week... this run was hot, end of the day, I was sore from carrying 30+ pound kid on the hilly hike yesterday.
