RPE 7+. Stretched worked abs. Ran from house. around lake and back. did not stop to stretch after mile 1. cadence was 90-93 all day. checked many times. I began to reach this feeling of effortless running. It is that runners zone I used to get into years ago when I ran only. You begin to run with tunnel vision. Nothing around you matters. You are oblivious to your surrounds bc of that tunnel vision. I was not as deep into that tunnel vision as I have been in years past. But that is as close to that runners tunnel vision I have experienced in many years. Cant remember the last time I left like this. I was at the point that about mile 6 I didnt have to be concerned with my cadence or my HR bc I knew it was spot on. I took a smal gel flask with 2 gels mixed with half water. Same as last long run. Began taking gel around 40 mins. Although early, I wanted to see how much I could take in at an hr. I took over 3/4 of the flask which equates to about 190 cals over 55 mins. So i feel I would have taken in the rest of the flask over the next 5mins which would be 220 cals. Once I began taking in cals I would do so every 5 mins. Walked about .25 mile stretched. I feel really good. Last 2 nights I have gotten better sleep. I began to notice myself sweating around 1.8 miles.(something we talked about of late). I kept the effort a bit lower earlier today. Something I have done in a few of my recent long runs. Last mnth I after my warm up mile I tended to push the effort a bit to get to my HR ceiling fast. But of late I have simply allowed my body to reach my ceiling HR when it wanted without forcing the HR thing early on like around mile 2. Note that my fastest mile was mile 5. Usually my fastest mile is mile 2.
