8 miles with 6x30s strides
The first mile of this felt slow and sluggish. My legs felt tired and I wasn't enjoying hills. But, then I started to feel strong. I started my strides in mile 4-I ended up kind of doing 7 because my first one was thwarted after only 20 seconds, so I decided to do another one. But then that one was thwarted about 20 seconds in when a tiny little dog came running up barking at me. So I guess it kind of evens out to 6 strides.
I felt really strong overall but my legs got really tired on each stride. I guess they have some fatigue in them still. I also had to do some of the strides either on slight grades or immediately after the stride I had an uphill.
I quit looking at my heart rate once I started the strides and just ran by feel but I didn't realize how high I was letting my HR get. I felt good though and I imagine the averages are higher because of the strides. This was a nice run to balance out the harder first half of the week. Moon Pie is going to be rough but even just one easy run that felt a little better is a nice boost mentally.
