Notes
The ITBS said hello between 4 and 5 miles. Not bad, but I knew what was coming. Just a matter of how many miles I could do before it got really bad. Could I finish before the pain got too bad? Still I was on track and doing well until 15k mark when the ITBS brought me to a walk. Attempted to run several times after that, but the longest run was maybe a third of a mile before the pain was just too much. The humidity was rough too. When I slowed to a walk my feet and hands swelled up, adding to the slower pace. Then I started passing water stations, a huge mistake. It is now 3 days since the race and I can see a lot of lessons from this race.
1. With the ITBS I should have moved to the 5k race (allowed in this event).
2. I should have put up with pissing every hour on the hour and drank lots of water for 3 days prior to the race.
3. Drink water at each station.
4. Carry carb snacks with me!
