Went out last night, so 5am rolled in way too soon. Got up with <4 hours sleep and still feeling full from dinner. Ughh. My calves are really sore from cramping after yesterday's 5k, especially the left one. Not looking forward to trudging 8 x 2 mile loops...
Made every attempt to NOT look at my watch for the first half. I started slow and figured I either bail after 100 yards or just go as long as I could. Felt like crap the first hour, but started to feel stronger after the sun came up. By the 5th loop (mile 10ish), I looked at my split and realized I was cruising better than I felt...around 8:55 pace for that mile.
Due to my sore foot and calves, I decided against the full fledged 4 mile fast finish, but the pace did average somewhere around 8:30 - 8:40 in my estimation.
I'll take that. Next week I'll be feeling better and work towards a fast finish long run.
