Notes

Pretty happy with this race, overall. Still dealing with this cough and congestion this week from being sick so I wasn't sure how it was going to go. The other two runs this week didn't feel great so I wasn't sure how I wanted to run this race. I think in my head I wanted around 90 minutes and sub-90 if I was feeling it.

This course was actually pretty good. Definitely more hills than Tom King, but not terrible. I liked it a lot more than the CM Half but that's not saying much. I locked into a decent stride and ran with a little hispanic girl most of the race. She took off when we hit the Greenway, but I reeled her back in when we got back to the bridge right at mile 12. My effort level felt smooth until about mile 10. I started feeling tired at that point and wasn't sure how the last 5k was going to go. I had to slow down a good bit on the bridge coming back into downtown. I think I was doing about 7:30 at that point. The last half mile was pretty rough, but fortunately once we got to the bridge it was either flat or downhill from there. The final tenth was all on Broadway with the finish line in sight. I gave it about all I had at that point hoping I could break 90 but I ended up being right at 90 flat.

I don't think I could have run this race much better in my condition. I still had the cough and felt pretty congested so that definitely affected my breathing. I finished feeling really glad to be done, but not like I had pushed it too much at any point.
