Good race today. The purpose of today's race was to run about 5 seconds faster than MP, and hopefully not get too tired. My hamstring was tight/sore during our brief warm-up, but I just had to give it a go. While I felt the slight soreness the whole time, it never really affected me. There was a 10min delay to get the race started, which made me really really cold. I couldn't feel my feet when the race started, and it took over 5 miles for the feeling to come back completely. Felt like I was running on stumps the first mile and my feet were on fire during mile 3 when they began to thaw out. Effort never felt too hard, although the last few miles were tough with the strong headwind. Took a gel at mile 7, but when I grabbed a water cup at the aid station - it was empty! I grabbed a water cup at mile 9, but most of it ended up on the volunteer... Definitely could have gone a bit faster, but the effort was just about right. I feel good about my current fitness, just need to heal my hamstring.
