Notes

First time at Afton State Park. I ran the Afton Trails 50k loops (or tried my best). Fantastic new find - many steep hills and technical downhills, exactly what I have been looking for. I stragetically choose a few hills to powerwalk up, and I attacked the downs hard than I ever have before. Legs were pretty tired by mile 20, but I kept plugging along and didn't lose much time on the second lap except for a few of the uphills. I drank a lot of water, stopped at mile 25 to fill up. Probably drank near 90 - 95oz. I also had 1000cal of Perpetuem in my waterbottle, which I finished up as I was approaching the car. I had to be a bit careful with my stomach the last 10mi or so with my increased water intake - but I managed alright.

After I finished my second lap, I ran the short run to the Afton Alps ski area and did seven hill repeats. It just isn't practical for me to assume that I can run every hill at Superior, so I marched up the ski hills and ran down. Based on Google Maps, the ski hill I choose was between 28% - 30% incline. This absolutely destroyed my legs and my mind. When I could barely feel my legs, I decided to just turn it in. I'll probably feel those for awhile.
