Notes

Ran before my appt with Darrell.

He said I have a lot of problems going on, that my right side was so jammed up that my left side has been over-compensating and it is in return, very tight. He said I do have some nerve issues, and a slight chance that I might have a bulging disc. He rotated my sacrum back into place. Since my glutes aren't firing, my hamstring and lower back are taking the beating instead of all working together. He said posture has a lot to do with it since I work in an environment where I'm constantly hunched over towards my computer, sitting all day compressing the spine. He said he corrected a lot of my pelvic problems, but I still have a little back discomfort. I have to work on my hip/glute/hamstring flexibility before we can really get anywhere, and he gave me exercises to do. He mentioned I will probably be in pain at Boston. I do feel a little better, but I know I'm a long way away still. I won't see him again until the friday after the race.

Wednesday Morning: i'm sore from my upper back all the way down to my pelvic region, sore like I just ran a marathon type sore, but it's weird because i have fresh legs. Things are just sinking into place.

Sounds like a promising guy to work with...good luck with getting it sorted and good luck in Boston.

Thanks! At this point, my race plan is out the door, so I'm just going to run it how I feel and try to finish without further messing up my body. The guy seems legit, but a lot of it is up to me now. I have to stick to my corrective stretches no matter what. Hope to run with you sometime soon!

My new philosophy is to sacrifice every goal for health. So hang in there and once you get through this race, nothing else matters but getting healthy. It's a lot easier to get back in shape when healthy, than it is to just try and hang on to the fitness we have in pain.

Nothing you don't know, but always helps to hear it from those of us going through our own issues too.
