Notes

A couple weeks or so leading up to this race, I hadn't been feeling the strongest. My legs felt like rubber and in most runs, I felt tired halfway through. The goal was 2:40 or better, but I would've been happy under 2:45. Ran with Blake for the first few miles at a solid 6 min pace. He dropped off at a water station, and up ahead I could see the 2:39 pacer, so I reeled him in and stuck with him until about mile 18, that's when I began to fall apart. I felt very good going through mile ten and up through the halfway mark(1:19:03). I knew if I could keep the pace going up until 20 miles, I'd hit my goal, but as for the shape leading up to the race, I knew I wouldn't be able to hold the pace much after 20. Mile 22 through 24 were pretty tough and I was having difficulty doing math problems. Had a few hamstring issues 24-26, but toughened up and cautiously stretched my legs out as I tried to pick up my pace. I feel as though I finished strong and I think I ran a pretty smart race. I got water and gatorade at nearly every station and I believe I took gu at mile 4, 8, 12, 17. In retrospect, I should've taken my 5th gu, I just didn't think I'd be able to keep it down. Almost every time I ate one and drank water, a mile down the road I could feel it wanting to come up. Overall I'm satisfied with my performance and I believe I have plenty of room for improvement.
